I have a PhD in American Studies and an MA in English from the University of Texas at Austin. I also have an MA in Professional Counseling from Texas State University and a BA in Psychology from Vassar College. As a psychotherapist, I’m under the supervision of Marsha McDonough, PhD, LMFT-S.
I am on the faculty at Texas A&M Medical School’s department of humanities in medicine (Round Rock campus). And I’ve taught courses on American history, culture, and psychology at Southwestern University, the University of Texas, and Mount Holyoke College. I blog for Psychology Today, and Encountering America is my first book.
I grew up in Connecticut, but I’m happy to be living in Texas, raising actual Texan kids.
